This Spark Erosion Drilling Machine is an entry level EDM Hole Drill designed for drilling hard materials.
Spark erosion micro drilling edm is a specialized field of electrical discharge machining. A small 0.15mm - 3.0mm) usually hollow electrode spins about a spindle much like a drill and drill bit (edm drill).
The electrode is electrically charged by a servo-controlled generator producing the spark. Water based dielectric flushes through and around the electrode providing a controlled environment for the extremely small sparks to jump to the workpiece. The sparks erode the surface of the workpiece creating very small pockets. Eventually millions and millions of these microscopic pockets create the small hole. The size of the hole is controlled by the diameter of the electrode and the power settings.

Small hole electrical discharge drilling is in many ways similar to a conventional drilling operation, but offers the advantage of EDM. Very low machining forces with the EDM process makes the drilling of exotic, hardened or delicate materials onto a flat, rounded or angled surface possible.

EDM spark erosion capabilities enable you to machine intricate detail to very tight tolerances in the hardest materials, including hardened steel, Monel, titanium, tungsten carbide, tantalum, Super Duplex and Inconel.

Small Hole Electro Spark Machine Common Applications:

Spark erosion EDM drilling is an excellent method for making high aspect micro structures in all metals and conducting ceramics and other materials such as polycrystaline diamond.
This can also be used for reclaiming potentially scrapped components or tooling – typically the process is ideal for removing broken taps, drills, studs, bolts or similar without affecting the work piece.
