In CNC machining, the tool holder is the "connector" between the CNC spindle and the router bits. Its performance directly determines the machining accuracy, efficiency, and stability.

BT Tool Holder (Japanese standard)

Taper and positioning: 7:24 taper is adopted, and the tool holder contacts the spindle only through the taper surface. we usually find BT30 tool holder, BT40 tool holder, and BT50 tool holder widely used in traditional machining industries. BT series tool holder has a strong versatility, such as: BT40-1/2" Gas-25L.

When the speed exceeds 10,000 rpm, it may cause the cutting tool position to shift and the accuracy to decrease, so it is not suitable for very-high-speed processing.

SK Tool Holder (also called high-speed BT tool holder)

SK is a high-speed model of the BT series, with a speed of up to 40,000 rpm, it suitable for high-speed cutting. But there is still a problem of accuracy fluctuation at high speed.

ISO Tool Holder (International standard or European standard)

Versatility is king: Based on ISO 7388/1 standard, it also uses a 7:24 taper, but the size design is more flexible and has strong versatility. It is known as the "universal adaptable tool holder". we usually can find below models in the market: ISO20-ER16MS-35, ISO30-ER32-45L Tool Holders.

Applicable: it is suitable for workshops with mixed use of multiple machine models, but limited support for high-speed and high-rigidity applications.

HSK Tool Holder (German high-speed standard)

The rigidity is 5-7 times higher than BT/SK.

Even if the speed exceeds 40,000 rpm, the tool holder can still remain stable, and it breaks first in a collision to protect the spindle. It is known as the "guardian of high-speed processing". Common size: HSK63F-OZ25-80, HSK63F-ER32-70.
