BBT30 VS BT30

BBT30 and BT30 tool holders looks the same from the appearance. The BT30 taper angle, BT30 pull stud and BT30 tool holder dimension are the same as BBT30 tool holders. So, what’s the difference between BT30 and BBT30 holders? If you are confused, please go ahead to read. This article can answer your questions.

1.     The contact area with the spindle is different.

When installing, BT30 tool holder only needs to fit with the inner cone of BT30 spindle; while the BBT30 tool holder not only fits with the inner cone of BBT30 spindle, but also the contact surface of the tool holder flange fits perfectly with the spindle nose. In this way, the contact area between the BBT30 holder and ATC spindle is larger, BBT30 toolholder and the spindle are more stable, the rigidity is higher, and the processing accuracy will be higher.

2.     The torque is different. BBT30 holder has higher torque; BT30 collet holder has lower torque.

3.     The speeds is different. The maximum speed of the BBT30 toolholder can reach 30,000 rpm/min; the speed of the BT30 is lower, generally ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 rpm/min.

4.     The material is different.  BBT30 tool holders use higher quality material, 20CRMnTI, while BT30 tool holders typically use common 40CR material.

      5.  The application is different.

BBT30 tool holders are more suitable for high-precision machining and heavy cutting, such as aerospace, medical equipment, automotive parts, mold manufacturing, precision parts manufacturing and other industries that require high precision.

      BT30 tool holders are generally suitable for small metal processing CNC machine, CNC wood router and CNC stone working machines.
