What is a Synchronous Belt?

Synchronous belt (also called timing belt, Toothed Belt, positive-drive Belt). It is a highly efficient system of power transmission. All synchronous belts operate on the positive engagement principle, the same principle as chains, molded belt teeth meshing with sprocket teeth. A synchronous belt does not allow slippage because of a driving system synchronicity is the Synchronous belt's basic condition. Any slippage will damage the system.  

Material of Synchronous Belt： 

Synchronous belts are made of rubber or polyurethane. The detailed material depends on the type of application. 

Polyurethane synchronous belts have exceptional stiffness and dimensional stability. It becomes the priority for precise positioning. For example, the food industry uses polyurethane synchronous belts. 

Chloroprene rubber synchronous belts are familiar with their remarkable fatigue resistance. It typically covers nylon on the toothed side,  improving abrasion resistance against pulleys. The tooth profile of Synchronous Belt:

Synchronous belts have various sizes and construction so that they can meet different needs.

Normally, we have 3 tooth profiles as below.

H-type: it can be widely during our CNC industry. The tooth profile is referred to as HTD. It has a round tooth profile, It is available in 3mm, 5mm, 8mm, 14mm, and 20 mm pitches in various widths and lengths.

S-TYPE: The S-type tooth profile is referred to as STPD, It is available in 3mm, 4,5mm, 5mm, 8mm, and 14mm pitches in various widths and lengths.

R-TYPE: R-type synchronous belt is an in-depth profile parabolic tooth design used in R-type, It is available in 5mm, 8mm, 14mm, and 20mm pitches in various widths and lengths, in single-side and dual-side configurations.
